A few years ago we expanded our home to provide more dementia facilities which included seven new specialist dementia care bedrooms. All rooms are complete with en-suite bathrooms for easy access. Alongside this expansion, our plans also included a ‘dementia-friendly’ garden which involves raised beds and planting to stimulate the senses. Stimulating the senses is a particularly important aspect of caring for those with dementia as it can evoke an emotional reaction which facilitates engagement in the environment or reminisce about past memories.
One Creative Environments Ltd (One) worked with Richard White to develop a sustainable plan for our home. This low-energy design increased efficiency and helped lower operating costs. Speller Metcalfe provided their expertise in building and delivering it to the highest sustainability standards.
