Stanfield Nursing Home, our Worcestershire care home with nursing, recently hosted a coffee morning as part of the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee morning.
The event took place on Sunday 1st October so the families of the residents could join in easily at our independently owned and run care home in Worcester and they were invited to come along and enjoy the occasion.
There were cakes aplenty. And the obligatory coffees, of course! Tea drinker’s weren’t left to go thirsty. There was plenty of brew to go around as well.
We were delighted at the level of support from our Worcestershire care home with nursing residents’ family member’s. Eighty people came to the day, so we were well supported raising £300.00
During the day, in addition to the cakes and beverages, we all enjoyed a raffle and tombola.
Why we actively promote events to get together at our Worcestershire care home with nursing
Aside from supporting Macmillan, the day was a superb opportunity for our Worcester care home residents to spend time with their loved ones. This is something we actively encourage at Stanfield whatever time of day, year, and regardless of occasion.
The welfare of our resident’s is always top of our priorities and regular contact with loved ones is a key part of that. We try to allow the rhythm of our nursing home in Worcester to flow as close to that of a family home.
Everyday, what we are trying to do, is mirror what might go on in somebody’s home. And that naturally would entail visits from friends and family throughout the duration of any given day. So, that’s what we facilitate.
We promote a very relaxed approach to visiting at Stanfield. Our first visitor usually arrives around 8 o’clock in the morning. They may be having a cup of tea with their loved one on their way to work. Our last visitor leaves usually around 11 o’clock at night.
Being able to host events such as this one to support Macmillan, is a great opportunity to assist a worthwhile cause and another excuse for our residents to have a get together with friends and family!
We always have a regular programme of daily and weekly activities and events for our residents, and always welcome family and friends who would like to join in.
