Worcester Care Home Christmas Activities | Festive Fun in Stanfield

Our Worcester care home Christmas activities programme has gotten well underway in the last few weeks. For the month of December, we have had a host of exciting events and activities planned at Stanfield Nursing Home, to bring enjoyment to all of our residents and their families.

We started off on the first of December with a Christmas themed, but healthy focused, getting in shape with exercises courtesy of Terry Hughes who encourages both standing and chair based exercises. Part of our ethos at Stanfield is to provide a balanced activity programme for our residents - and that’s no different during the festive period! Which is why Terry will be returning to our care home Worcester on the 15th December too.

On Friday 2nd December, we were treated to karaoke where Kim got us all singing for Christmas. Our resident’s absolutely love getting involved and having a sing along to all sorts of little ditties. You might be surprised to learn that as part of our Worcester care home Christmas activities, the songs the residents sing aren’t always all traditional songs or songs from the eras of their youth. Music evokes memories and so we are careful to choose songs that avoid causing distress by bringing up memories of difficult times for our patrons such as those that might have been popular during WW2. Thanks to Kim and the wide choice of music he brings with him we are able to do this. Kim will be coming back to Stanfield again on the 23rd December, warming us up for Christmas with more songs.

The 6th of December has seen a marvellous performance from the Vintage Voices group. This group of mature ladies come in and sing to Stanfield’s residents, adorned with feather boas and the like. They bring a sense of fun and twenties glamour to our Worcester care home Christmas activities programme and our residents and their families love them.

We have also had the following:

7th Dec at 1.15pm - Rushwick Village school children entertain us
8th Dec at 11am - Puss in Boots a live performance
8th Dec at 2pm - Christmas carols
13th Dec - Ray brings the Christmas spirit alive
14th Dec at 2pm - Sybil from the WI leads a Christmas carols concert
15th Dec at 10am - Terry warming us all up for Christmas
18th Dec - from 3pm onwards, the residents invited everyone to their party

For the remainder of the month, our Worcester care home Christmas activities programme is as follows:

22nd Dec at 10am - Terry’s last visit before Christmas mince pies for all
23rd Dec at 10.30am - Kim warms us all up for a Christmas with songs
24th Dec at 6pm - Christmas Eve supper
25th Dec - Christmas Day for all, Christmas delivered by Father Christmas in the morning. Christmas lunch and relax.
26th Dec - Boxing and time to relax

Most of our Worcester Care Home Christmas activities take place in the Oak sitting room. Our residents’ families are warmly invited to come and join in any or all of the events they wish to do so. On behalf of all the residents and staff, we would be delighted to have you here.
