Stanfield Nursing Home is an elderly care home in Worcester, located in Rushwick. As care providers, it is our duty to ensure that our home is not only comfortable and welcoming for residents, but also safe and up-to-date.

In this blog, we’ll explore the importance of maintaining a care home and dive into our recent renovations to the kitchen and bedrooms.

The History of Stanfield Nursing Home

Our elderly care home in Worcester is linked to Wick Episcopi. This was the former Bishop’s residence of Worcestershire. But, the earliest parts of Stanfield Nursing Home in Worcester go back as far as 1546.

Stanfield was a nursing home before Richard White bought the house in 1987. It was originally converted by a qualified nurse. She was very ambitious and had no money but wanted to make Stanfield an elderly care home in Worcester.

Stanfield staff reflect this loving history in the passion we bring to caring for those staying with us, every day.

However, its long history would lead to unforeseen challenges. When Richard wanted to make alterations to the elderly care home to ensure it was fit for purpose, he would have to consult with quite a lot of people.

Refurbishing Our Elderly Care Home in Worcester

Over the years, Stanfield House has gone through many modifications. Each time, we would consult with the listed building officer and others so that changes would suit the exact requirements of the home, Richard and those we care for.

To list a few:

  • 2008, Richard, staff and the families of those we cared for designed 22 rooms. Within these plans, we were also about to create an internal courtyard garden.
  • 2015, we added 7 bedrooms and another very large sitting room. We further enhanced our garden provision by developing a sensory area ensuring plenty of space for all in the home to access the open air whenever they wish.
  • 2018, the roof of the original Georgian house went under a major restoration.
  • 2019, we added a fountain to the courtyard garden. A former person living at Stanfield requested this and expressly wished for it to be provided for all to enjoy.
  • 2021, when the Covid pandemic started, we built a visiting room on the front of the home. This enabled visitors to see their loved ones without entering the home.

Keeping our elderly care home up to date is an integral part of caring for your loved ones. We have the responsibility to keep people safe as well as comfortable in their living environment.

Recent renovations

Over the last couple of years, the Covid-19 pandemic halted any further alterations we planned to make. As such, companies were unable to visit Stanfield Nursing Home in Worcester due to our Infection Prevention regulations. They were also reluctant to take orders in advance due to the uncertainty at the time.

However, as things slowly started to return to normal Richard got straight back to it.

We recently finished refurbishing the kitchen, which our in-house chef and his team are very pleased with.

Renovations also took place in some of Stanfield Nursing Home’s bedrooms to give them a fresh look. We have replaced furniture like dressing tables, bedside drawers, beds and wardrobes.
