Why Music is so Important at Stanfield

Here is one of our latest videos featured on our You Tube channel about music in care homes:

Learn about the music we enjoy here at Stanfield Nursing home, featuring our talented cellist Corrinne Frost, with our nursing home director Richard White.

Richard - "Im sitting next to Corrinne Frost, who came into my life and the life of the nursing home approximately five years ago. She came to the nursing home as part of the English Symphony Orchestra."

"I've always appreciated music in my own life and certainly I've been aware for many years that music for the people we're privileged to care for has played an important part."

Music in care homes is an essential element when providing dementia care services. There is much research that surrounds the idea that music is one of the most beneficial aspects of helping those with the disease. It can often provide moments of clarity due to triggered memories, as well as soothing residents with a calming melody to improve mood and atmosphere.

We provide residents with a musical session multiple days a week! This ensures everyone's favourite genre of music through the decades is catered for at a time convenient for them. Our visiting entertainers include Corrinne Frost, Ray, Reaction Music, Les, Terry, and Kim. These activities also help to keep our residents active when dancing along to the upbeat tunes!
