Continuous professional development

We are committed to providing our staff with opportunities to undergo further training to enhance their skills and qualifications.

All members of Stanfield Nursing Home’s team, including ancillary staff, attend courses on patient-centred care and protecting vulnerable adults. This ensures we are all equipped to meet residents’ physical and emotional needs. We also all attend food hygiene courses so residents’ health and safety is not compromised.

In 2008, our staff had over 215 attendances on training courses on 30 separate occasions. These courses included:

  • acquired brain injury
  • adult protection
  • continence / medication
  • deprivation of liberties safeguard
  • diabetes
  • dressing selection
  • epilepsy
  • falls and risk assessment
  • fire safety awareness
  • food hygiene
  • health and safety
  • infection control
  • leg ulcers
  • male supra pubic catheterisation
  • nursing equipment selection
  • nutrition for life
  • palliative care
  • palliative wound care
  • person-centred care delivery
  • risk assessment
  • stoma care
  • tissue viability.

Two of our staff also undertook and achieved their Diploma in Dementia Care.
